Our Journey

Acclaimed to be one of India’s largest dairy and food ingredient manufacturers, Mahaan has been a pioneer in this business since its commencement in 1987. We embarked on this journey of turning fresh milk into the products of daily use—ghee, milk powders, coffee and tea creamers and nutrition supplements.

Mahaan Group Founded test

Jan

Established

In 1987, Mr. Amar Nath Goyal and Mr. Sanjeev Goyal established Mahaan with a mission to provide safe, tasty and high-quality dairy products for the Indian consumer.

Formerly owning the Road Master Cycle’s business in the early 1960s in Punjab, Mr. Goyal, along with his brothers, decided to exit the bicycle business and foray into the dairy industry; thereby leading to the establishment of three manufacturing units namely Mahaan, Shakti and Madhu in Paonta Sahib (Himachal Pradesh), Pehowa (Haryana); and Kot Kapura (Punjab), respectively.

Our consumer-first approach has been a crucial factor during our product development. During the 1980s, Mahaan’s Paonta Sahib facility was processing 36 million kilograms of fresh milk annually to produce pure ghee and dairy creamers — the feature products of the Mahaan portfolio.

Mahaan capacity

The capacity to process 1,25,000 kilograms of fresh milk daily at Mahaan was used to manufacture an exclusive retail portfolio of pure ghee, milk powders and dairy creamers.
